byzantine empire review

1. Roman leaders broke up the empire in 395.
2. Rulers ruled with absolute power.
3. Justinian charged a group of scholars to create a single uniform code of law.
4. The main street through constantinople was lined with merchants stalls.
5. The empire faced countless setbacks such as street riots, religious quarrels, palace intrigues and foreign dangers.
6. The church was divided into two parts
